Artist's Statement

"Art is to seize the movement of life and related sensations: the morning light, the different shades in a flower, the changing of colors, all sensations connected with people, perfumes, the surrounding plants, the flowing of time, everything changing every second, continuously, in color and forms.

Art is life. Art is movement, Art is a diary of life.
Only through art I feel deep delicate sensations".

Biography

Lucia Gonnella  tries to seize a moment of life on a canvas using acrylics, watercolors, black ink and oils in a vibrating and spontaneous sketching.

In her first  work  she was trying to capture a synthesis rather than reality. Coming back to art in the last two years she has rediscovered her childish enthusiasm.

Lucia Gonnella was born in Bari, Italy where before long she showed this passion for painting and drawing but she had, at the same time, a different career as French and Italian teacher. She studied design, composition and nude at the Academy of Brera in Milan and pottery at Cova School in Milan. She studied painting at the studio of Sergio Albano in Turin. She took part at the exhibitions of the Perrone Group, a group created by the same painter Sergio Albano, and at the exhibitions of the Brera Group in Milan and Isola Comacina.

Lucia traveled extensively in Europe, Nepal and the United States. Teaching in Belgium for six years took her away from art. She travels between San Francisco and Italy, two different places and cultures that equally nurture her artist soul.
